Don't Let This Safety Opportunity Slip Away...

Welcome to our FRP Concepts newsletter!

We'll be sharing quick tips, insights, and more each month. Let's start at the ground level with a look at how Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) helps address a common workplace hazard.

Can You Reduce Slip/Fall Risks?in 2023?

Did you know? It's not just falling off a ladder or a roof that's dangerous and potentially fatal. Same-level slip and fall accidents can be deadly as well.

  • In 2020, more than 130 workers in the U.S. were killed in falls on the same level.
  • More than half a million serious slip and fall accidents happen each year in the U.S. alone.
  • Construction workers are 7x more at risk for slip/fall accidents than workers in other industries

Many slip and fall risks can be reduced by using textured surfaces. Slip-resistant materials are especially important in construction and industrial environments where surfaces may get wet from weather or work processes.

Where Does Slip Resistance Matter?

Any environment where spills can happen or where rain and other elements can create a slick surface can benefit from slip-resistant materials. Gritted and meniscus FRP materials are useful as a slip-resistant walking surface while FRP structural shapes can be utilized to create ladders and railings to prevent falls.

Here's an example of how FRP is used for platforms and railings to replace steel scaffolding in a wet and windy environment.
