"DON'T LET THE DEVIL RIDE"

If you have ever been to a circus you have seen elephants tethered to a chain that is connected to a stake in the ground. You may not realize that that stake is only eighteen inches long and that elephant can easily pull that stake up, because a grown man has to pull the stake up to free the elephant. Now if a grown man can pull up the stake, why doesn’t the elephant pull that stake out of the ground and free himself?

Well, when that elephant was a baby, he did not have the strength to pull that stake out of the ground. After years of trying, the elephant concludes that he can never pull it out of the ground. So in circuses all over the world there are massive elephants, capable of lifting entire trees out of the ground by their roots, held captive by the false notion they can't break free from those puny stakes.

Likewise, there are many people in this world who are chained to the stakes of sin, sorrow, and suffering who could be free in an instant if they would just trust Jesus.

Yet, just like the elephant, many of us have the false notion we cannot break free from sin or sorrow and make the 'ol devil run. Instead, we allow ourselves to live in partial or complete defeat to adultery, alcoholism, addiction or a multitude of other sinful chains. Or, just like the elephant we hold on to the false notion of defeat by past events or past sorrows.

John 8:36 plainly teaches us "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

If you feel you cannot break the chains or stakes of addictions or past sorrows or whatever grasp the 'ol devil has duped you into believing, it is time to look at the 'ol devil's ace in the hole called deception and time to let God take control and force the 'ol devil to run. No more listening to the silver tongue.

God wants every one of us to be free as His Word teaches repeatedly. Also, God wants every one of us to be happy, free of worry, free of sorry and free of living in chains to false notions.

Almighty Father, we want You to break our chains of false notions we are bound to unhappiness, sorrow and fears. We ask You to give us the wisdom to see through the false notions keeping us tied to addictions or defeated attitudes and remind us to "Don't Let the Devil Ride."
