You have just reached the moment in your day when work begins. In a few hours, you will look back on all that has just passed. Three questions face you now:
- What do you want to accomplish?
- What stands in your way?
- What can you do to fortify your best results?
Ask yourself the first question. If you were to choose one task to complete, what would it be? Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Hold it. Visualize yourself completing that task, and exhale.
Though you may have many answers to the second question, what stands in your way, allow James Clear to give you one possibility today. He reminds us of what the French writer Voltaire said, “the best is the enemy of the good.”
Today’s answer to the third question becomes immediately clear.
What can you do to fortify your best results? Do not let perfectionism stand in your way.
Accomplish as much as you can without the internal critic.
Do not hold yourself to the standard of an imaginary perfect outcome. Focus on what you can do, and do it.
This day will come and go. That much is certain.
Making it count? Well, that’s up to you.
You ready? Breathe in…..... Focus!
