We've all had that moment of feeling drawn to someone, sometimes so strong it feels like a magnet. This is the start of attraction, which could lead to love. Not just for romantic relationships, but for friendships too, since those relationships are also steeped in love.
The problem is that in the beginning this attraction?can be so potent that it causes us to overlook certain characteristics in people that are simply not good for us. This honeymoon phase can literally have us in a delusional state. By the time we realize, or simply accept, what's always been right there, it's often too late. That is, our hearts have opened to this person, now making us susceptible?to enduring pain.?
Pure love is?the will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth.
Think about the number people in your life who are not nurturing you or helping you grow. Or the people who you're falling short of nurturing or supporting. Even more importantly, think about the way that, you too, are not nurturing or supporting your own spiritual growth.
I know this all too well as I describe fully in Me Too: A Therapist's Journey to Heal, Find Liberation, & Joy. Being in a relationship with someone who can't love you the way you need and want to be loved is gut wrenching. I don't know much worse pain than heartbreak.?
The only way I was able to begin to have the strength to leave was by centering my healing through consistent wellness practices that have helped me to rise. And after five years, I finally broke free for good.?
If you can relate to any of this in your relationships then I implore you to commit to self love today.?
Self love creates the pathway to receive the love we want and, oh so deserve. It also helps us to love other people the way they deserve to be to be loved.?

Others typically don't love us more than we love ourselves. The dosage by which we love ourselves will be the dosage of the love we receive?from others.
