Don't let AI take our "Eureka's"...
Could AI be the death knell for our creativity? The answer is simple: Yes, if we don’t start to value and protect the traits that make us human.
The rise of generative AI is turning the creative world on its head, revolutionizing how we produce basically anything, and, at lightning speed. If used as a springboard for research and inspiration, it has proven to be the game-changer most of us believe it is.
Many people fear losing their jobs as a result of AI, in my opinion there is something far more threatening, losing our ability to think, comprehend and create.
Let's break it down: There are two types of creativity at play here. First up, we've got psychological or personal creativity. This is when someone comes up with an idea on their own, even if others have had similar thoughts before. Think of it like a lightbulb moment when a child realizes water can take any shape. It's about learning something new and syncing our thoughts with others.
Then there's historical creativity, the kind that makes history – like Archimedes having his "Eureka!" moment in the bath. This is the stuff of legends.
My fear is that AI can negatively affect creativity, it is already happening. We are facing a huge risk, if we continue relying so heavily on AI in everything we do! Some of the best minds of our generation are already abandoning "natural brainpower" (for lack of a better word, I suppose I could've asked ChatGPT for help, but nah!).

I myself, use AI as a catalyst, it surely can assist in certain aspects of my creative process, but it cannot fully replace the human element that makes creative works unique and meaningful. End of story.
As a seasoned and well-versed writer, I was the "go-to" for peers, friends, and family. I was everyone's personal "walking-talking-ChatGPT" pre-2022. I am, however, shocked daily at how fellow industry professionals merely copy and paste without any thought process involved. How I see it, they're going rogue and producing downright dodgy content. It begs the question: Will AI zap our creativity?
But here's the kicker: AI isn't all doom and gloom. In fact, it's more of a boon than a bane for creative industries. As long as we use it as a tool to spark ideas rather than replace human ingenuity, the sky's the limit.
I will continue to use AI for what it is: a catalyst for creativity. After all, the future belongs to those who dare to dream – with or without a little help from our silicon friends.
By the way, yes, I did utilize AI to craft the somewhat poorly composed image to accompany the article.
