Don’t leave anybody behind
Living consciously, being awakened, becoming more self-aware, mindfulness …. is about moving out of the shadows of fear and into the light of our true selves.
We purposefully start to examine how we live our lives and observe what we think, feel, say and do. We do this so we can understand how much of who we have become, is our true selves and how much is instilled, adopted and enforced from the external world. From there we can take baby steps to try and be more conscious in each moment and slowly strip away the conditioning … to be our true selves …. freely.
This journey is not easy as we need to be open, vulnerable and willing to hold hands with our daemons and perhaps have one last battle before we let them go. But … oh my … how wonderful it feels to be more authentic and to not care so much about the expectations of society and its definition of what success looks like. Our priorities very quickly start to change and we start to find joy and beauty in moments we did not know existed before.
BUT … what about everyone else? Those who are not awakened … those still trapped in the illusion that happiness comes from the material world. And what about those who are still too scared to hold hands with their daemons? What about those who have tried but have been badly wounded. And then there are those who are numbing their pain with substances.
Because we may have progressed on our path a little earlier and a little further, does this give us the right to feel superior … does it make them bad or unworthy … do we now have the right to judge them?
Well, the answer lies in the overall purpose of becoming awakened. We take this journey to discover and love ourselves again so that we can be free. But, if in that process we don’t soften our hearts for all others too, then we are not truly awakened yet. We have not yet understood that the purpose of loving ourselves is not about ourselves alone … it’s about the collective .. it’s about our deep connection with all beings and all of nature. We are here to open our hearts to the wounded, the downtrodden, the misguided, the ego driven, the addicts, the narcissist …. the “enemy”.
If you choose to only surround ourselves with those who emit good vibrations and are also awakened, your journey will not progress … your light will dim and you will ultimately become disconnected from your true self again. Let us not create two worlds … one for those who have freed themselves from pain and one for those that are still stuck in their suffering and lack of awareness. Your journey towards enlightenment is beautiful and vitally important to the collective but it will fall short of what it could be if you choose to separate from those who cannot see what you can see.
Don’t leave them behind. Share your light, your awareness, your heart with those who are lost and not with those who are already found.
It might be tiresome and frustrating, but turn back and look at who is left behind and remind yourself that you were once there too. Turn around and hold the hand of the new daemon of your awakening journey.
