Don't Just Tell Them How to Use AI. Show Them!
Are you looking for ways to help your staff use GenAI apps more confidently and effectively? Here are some thoughts on how to do that.
During the rollout phase, offer your people hands-on training and host workshops that provide an introduction to the software. Let them take the software for a “test drive,” play with the tools, and do some things right - and wrong! It’s called “high-touch learning,” and it works! You’ll see how far this approach can take your team and before you know it, they’ll be off to the races.
Provide clear guidance and best practices for using the software and above all, make sure that your trainees “get it” before you cut them loose. The last thing you want is low performers dragging down the team and slowing your star players because they have to carry the people who just don’t get it.
Show them where to find answers. Give them user manuals, online tutorials, and provide support forums. And give them a place to run to if they get stuck so they can troubleshoot issues and learn new features.
Let them play, experiment and create a culture that promotes innovation without worrying about mistakes, at least for the moment. But do set high expectations about on the job performance.
Set up a mentorship program where experienced users can guide and coach the inexperienced. Create a collaborative working environment that emphasizes peer-to-peer learning.
