Don’t Just be Different, Be(You)nique!
“Don't compare yourself with anyone in this world...if you do so, you are insulting yourself.” ― Bill Gates
Many brands right now solely focus on being different from their competitors. It’s not a mistake though. However, to make your brands get noticed and stand out among others, you shouldn’t just be different because if you take a closer look, basically every brands are different. Thus, being different shouldn’t be your final goal. Your final goal should be being unique in your own way!
Quoted from brandmusings.net, “Unique” is being the only one of its kind: unlike anything else. So, if you are in charge of either creating a brand or helping to define an existing brand, the ultimate goal should be a “unique” brand.” Define your brand exactly the way you want it; set the standard!
Like we’ve mentioned earlier, being unique is indeed not the easiest thing to do. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible.
- Know Your Brand
To be able to understand your brand’s uniqueness, you need to know your brand first so that you can capture the value that your brand holds. Don’t be afraid of who your brand really is. Take a look at Volkswagen’s very famous slogan “Think Small”, the huge success of this slogan was a result of them sticking to their own self. Why should be bother telling everyone something that you’re not?
- Understand Your Customer
At the end of the day, no matter how amazing your brand, campaign, or ad is, if it is not matched with your intended customer, then it all doesn’t mean a thing. That is why it’s highly important for you to understand your customer. Find out what they are interested in & discover what they need.
- Don’t Be Afraid to Try Something New
Take that risk! Don’t be afraid to go through trial & error-process! You might have to lose sometimes, but that’s okay. It’s a process before you finally be able to find your uniqueness. Test as many strategies as possible!
