My thoughts on The BBC documentary, Katie Price, Harvey and me.
This is a wonderful documentary. It really shows the challenges that parents face when it comes to sorting out the right care for their child.
Whilst I don't have the same challenges that Katie Price's son has my family went through the same challenges. When I was choosing to go to university, I think it's crucial that parents and/or guardians/carers have the right information when it comes to thinning out forms and be as informed as they can when choosing the right situation for a person's next steps. Whether that be college/university or living independently.
This has brought back memories of the challenges that me and my family have faced in terms of getting the right care plan in place and getting the right financial support in order for me to live independently away from home at University and I have a new-found respect for Katie Price and all the things that she has to deal with on a day-to-day basis. Whilst I don't have the challenges of Harvey I can understand some of the paperwork and red tape that she has to go through to make sure that her child is cared for. One of the best documentaries I have ever seen. Well done. The BBC shedding light on this issue for many other people in the same predicament.
