Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover

He stood there wondering what he should do next. He had read virtually every book in the library. He, like most of us, was searching for something that would give him meaning, perhaps happiness, to his life. He was standing next to the library cashier. She was a little old lady. Probably just barely getting along in life. Obviously of no help to him for all his life he had been searching for something he knew existed but could not define or find it. Little did he know that his entire life was about to be changed by this little old lady.

She asked him "are you finding what you are looking for?". He shook his head no. She suggested a book that was not in the library and that he could order it from the business office, which he reluctantly did the next day. As he was reading the book, Something came over him and he realized that his entire life was changing before his very eyes. His search of a lifetime was over and all because of a little old lady that he had prejudged her worth, her value, by her outward appearance alone.

She had taught him one of the greatest lessons in life, "judge not by appearances". And so he learned and was putting into practice the spiritual nature of relationships whereby the conscious oneness of God meant that he had a conscious oneness with everyone. And so he now sees God as the reality and the very life of every individual. He now recognizes the Truth about him is the Truth about them. He knows that the Kingdom of God is within every individual and that therefore we are now perfectly connected.

And so now when he is asked what is the key to his having found that which he could not find, his answer always begins with "well, there was this little old lady - ".
