Don’t Give Up And Close That Sale!!

Closing sales is a strategy of resilience.? There are very few situations lending themselves to a one call close.? The sooner you come to that realization, the happier you will be.? My goal above all else is your happiness in selling.

There are studies that show that 75-90% of entrepreneurs quit before achieving success.? Many of the most successful business people have failed multiple times before succeeding.? Warren Buffett, my personal favorite, refuses to mentor anyone who hasn’t failed three businesses.

Why?

Failure is your greatest teacher!!

I tell all the people I’ve ever mentored that learning to sell is like learning to cook eggs.? Be prepared to ruin quite a few eggs before you make the perfect omelet.? That’s just the way it goes.? It takes resilience.

What should you expect in closing sales?

  • Objections
  • Delays
  • Disappointments

Objections:? The real truth behind an objection is that the person is not completely sold on your product.? Rewind.? You haven’t sold them.? Start over and listen closer.? Make sure you have the right DNA to close:? Desire, Need and Ability to Pay.

Delays:? Sometimes there are real financial or approval delays.? It’s real.? Especially when you are dealing with larger entities.? If you are serving larger bureaucratic entities like school systems or government agencies expect months of delays before getting paid.? Once the flow of money has started, consider hiring someone to keep tabs on the purchasing department.

Disappointments:? Despite all the market research, planning and getting all your business ducks in a row.? The gestation of a business can take as long as an elephant calf or longer.? Be patient and keep plugging away.? Take on side projects to sustain yourself during the process.? There’s no shame in the process.

Keep believing and keep striving for your dreams!!??
