Why Your Brand Is Your Company’s Backbone

When I started Chickenango, I didn’t realize how critical branding would be. I thought I could just “figure it out” as I went along. After all, isn’t that what most new business owners do?

Spoiler alert: it’s not a great strategy.

What I’ve learned is that branding isn’t just about a logo or a tagline—it’s about creating a foundation for everything your company stands for. Without a clear brand, you’re constantly explaining who you are and why you exist, not just to your audience but to yourself.

I’ve been there. It’s exhausting.

But when your brand is rock solid, everything shifts. Your message is clear, your audience recognizes you instantly, and your team is aligned with a shared mission. It’s no longer about competing for attention—it’s about standing out for all the right reasons.

A Hard Lesson Learned (Of Course.... the Hard Way)

Here’s the thing: some people learn the importance of branding the first time around. Then there are people like me. I like to joke that I must love pain because it took me a couple of tries (and plenty of trial-and-error) to really understand the power of a strong brand.

So, let me save you some trouble: don’t be that girl. ?? Trust me, getting it right the first time makes a world of difference.

Love this! ?? Building a brand is like learning to walk in heels—wobbly and awkward at first, but once you get it, you strut with confidence. Also, takes a whole lot of authenticity, that can be felt too.
