DON'T GET SUCKED IN: IT'S JUST A FLEETING SEASON
If I am given the opportunity to make an observation regarding the present rush all over the place and the endless choke in traffic with all kinds of queues everywhere, my response would be:
"Don't get sucked in or carried away. Resist the many merely flashy temptations of the season. The year is less than 20 days to go."
Has it occurred to you that this rush ritual is yearly? Do you realize that almost about this same time last year, you were this engaged too? And perhaps, you have probably been like this since you can remember.
Why do people continuously do the selfsame things and expect a different result? Were your complaints last year any different from these: cash squeeze, galloping prices, anxiety building up, much frenzy all over the place, endless rush and much more?
Now, before you crucify me, just give my words a thought or two and after you've done that, you may discard them as some stupid thought but do at least give them a thought. It's a plea.
Amazingly too, in less than 20 days from now, the frenzy would have completely died down and soberness set in. Then the usual singsong of being broke would take over the lips of many who repeatedly do the same things but expect different results. And it's more amazing you don't know that this refers and applies to you. You often don't see that you're caught up in that web.
Ever heard about the self-regulation quotient?
Now, you can pause a moment and think deeply about this: you may not be able to prevent what happens to you or around you but you definitely can control how you respond to situations and seasons.
The answer is in your thinking: how shallow or deep you think about everything, however little you may think those things are.
So, pause and think again. You don't have to spend or is it squander all that money and end up screaming "broke" and crying over spilt milk in January.
Think about it. If you didn't have the money what would you do? Would heaven fall? For what essential & enduring reason do you want to generate the funds you're chasing after: to service wants or needs? And what are needs to you? Sit yourself down and deal with that.
And after you go broke in January (because you will except…), imagine the effects of the drought: despair, stress, emotional trauma, strange thoughts inimical to your well-being, regrets and the like.
But you can prevent these now by controlling your emotions. Emotions guide our decisions more often than reasoning does. Spend some time in the reasoning domain and see the difference in value you’d have.
Let me leave you with this final thought:
What do you consider the best investment on yourself? Your answer to this question holds the key to how 2016 and beyond will turn out for you.
Ponder on these things...
