Don't Get Stuck

You are receiving this because you are one of 80,463 people who have subscribed to Meditate for Peace, and have agreed to meditate daily for peace.

The latest insight to pop into my awareness while I was meditating is: don't get stuck.

Don't get stuck on one idea, philosophy or way of being.

The Universe is a big, varied and unpredictable place.

In a single lifetime, we can't come to grasp the full or true nature of it.

Play around a bit...

  • Take a walk at sunrise each morning for a week or two.
  • Find a quiet place in the woods and chant. (Yes, chant.)
  • Buy an inner tube and float on a body of water, 14 days in a row.
  • Lie on your back and practice holotropic breathing .
  • Journal.
  • Draw a new picture every day for a month.
  • Do something you dislike, precisely because you dislike it and choose to escape the habits and preferences of "old you".
  • Be curious about the beliefs and life story of someone with whom you often disagree.
  • Let someone else decide what you do next.

I would love it if you could add to this list, or share any of these you have already tried.

Thanks in advance for reposting this issue on LinkedIn.

Nicola Miller, I do this very thing...not cross country ski in August. Hehe. But, do things outside my comfort zone very much on purpose. Some things are easier than others, but it has taught me a lot about myself and also about my friends and family since they usually get to join in or witness my challenges. Challenge your own beliefs and what others might believe about you. I find these can be false constraints. Sometimes I have to try harder, try again, or do things differently, or what I thought was hard was actually not that bad at all.

Change is the only constant -- and flow > stagnation when it comes to creative enjoyment, and living in more joy and less pain. Great thought, Bruce.

In this list, I saw Peace, I saw serenity, I saw energy, I saw verve. These are things I can relate with on the alter of meditation. However, I also saw discomfort, I saw vanity, I saw Disorder, I saw confusion, I saw contradictions and purposelessness. Then I wonder, are all these in the name of peace. Life without purpose is folly.

Always thought provoking and insightful. I constantly get these gentle pushes to move outside my comfort zone - and I love it! Keep nudging us along Bruce Kasanoff - we're listening.
