Don’t Get Caught With Your Pants Down!
Our Top 3 Reasons to Keep Your Septic Tank Clean!
At McBreen Environmental we get asked a lot about Septic Tanks and how to prevent problems with them. This usually happens when we’ve been called out to FIX a problem, which is a little like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted. As industry experts, we advocate yearly checking and maintenance of your domestic waste water treatment systems to prevent problems down the line. But it’s not just about problem prevention for the sake of it, there are many proven reasons why it is better to maintain an optimum and clean system. Below are our top 3.
- It’s the law.
With septic tanks being inspected since 2014 by local authorities, it’s imperative that you keep your domestic wastewater treatment system (DWWTS) clean and don’t get caught out. Your local authority can call out at any time with 10 days’ notice. We recommend a cleaning every 12 to 18 months to keep your system in tip-top condition and we offer discounts to repeat customers.
2. It will save you money
Small leaks can lead to big problems! If you properly maintain your water treatment system and de-sludge your septic system in a timely manner you are saving yourself the possibility of spending thousands of Euro if something goes wrong. It will also help maintain your property’s value.
3. Your septic tank water can contaminate the water you drink!
No, we’re not kidding. If the sludge in your septic tank gets too high (from lack of maintenance), it can block the network of pipes that lead the water into the ground to soak away. This water eventually makes its way back into the water table, which is the only means of a clean water supply to your home. You definitely DON’T want this water contaminated with your septic waste!
And there you have it! Maintaining your DWWTS (domestic waste water treatment system, we know, it’s a mouthful!) is not only the law, it’ll save you money and could prevent contamination of your drinking water. So don’t strain your drains, call us now for an inspection of YOUR system by certified experts!
