Don’t get caught off guard when Windows 10 support ends soon. Plan ahead!

What’s happening with Windows 10?
Microsoft will retire support for Windows 10 on October 14th, 2025, meaning no more fixes, security updates nor new features will be released from that date.
Only PCs with a recent processor will be capable of running Windows 11, in simple terms any computers over 5 years old need to be replaced, newer than 5 years can generally be upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 with minimal fuss.
This deadline is approaching quickly, so it’s crucial to start planning and executing your PC upgrades to Windows 11 now.
Do you have a PC hardware lifecycle plan in place? If so you probably know all of this already, well done!

What if I just continue using Windows 10 after Oct 2025 without extended security updates?
After support ends in October 2025, Windows 10 will continue to operate but will no longer receive updates, including fixes, new features nor security patches. This poses significant reliability and security risks for your business, Nostra strongly advises against this course of action.

What are my options?
You can continue to use Windows 10 after October 14th 2025 but you will need to pay for Microsoft extended security updates (ESU). ESU will last for three years till October 2028.
The first year is priced at €55 per PC. It then doubles to €110 for the second year and then doubles again in year three to €220. If you enter into the ESU program in year two, you’ll have to pay for year one as well since the ESUs are cumulative.
This will be a very expensive option and should be a last resort for most businesses
The best solution is to plan an upgrade now and invest that IT spend wisely in new Windows 11 computers rather than extended support with old computers which need to be replaced anyway.
