Don’t be an Entrepreneur Before Becoming a Creator

Don’t be an Entrepreneur Before Becoming a Creator

I started the business with passion but shut it with a bleeding heart.

In my first business, I was so focused on cutting costs that generating income for running the company didn’t even cross my mind. And I had to close the business and move on to the next one.

It was my second business that made me realize the true power of an entrepreneur. I was so focused on starting a business that I didn't realize I needed money or an investment to keep it going. That came later.

So, here are a few things I would like to share with all the people willing to start their business or close down their current business.

Create things first. Put them online and sell them.

As an entrepreneur, your core goal is to generate revenue for the business and find ways to create a sustainable business.

You have something to sell when you become a creator — an idea. Whether it is website design, development, vlogs, or blogs. Create something and put it online.

When you place your work out there, people will engage with it and buy it. That is the first step towards entrepreneurship.

Study wealth before you sell anything

When you pour your work out there, you know the worth of your work. You will find many people willing to buy products or services from you because you’re solving a problem.

People will gladly pay for the solution when you find a problem and create a solution for it.

When Sahil Lavingia developed?Gumroad, he was solving a problem that creators were facing: how to sell digital items/services online.

Gumroad solved a problem, and Sahil made money out of it.

You can do the same.

Find a problem, solve it and people will be more than happy to pay for it.

A community helps big time.

Kevin Kelly’s famous?1,000 super fans theory?reveals that to succeed in a business, you need 1,000 super fans who don’t just buy from you; they become so excited about the product/service that they become your brand ambassadors.

That is your goal as an entrepreneur. And as a creator, I understand the power of subscribers or readers who support my work. Each month I earn $250 merely from?paid memberships?that I get from my readers. I am just pouring my heart out; people are paying me and referring it to their friends.

Before becoming a best-selling author,?Ryan Holiday talked extensively about his Stoic philosophy in this blog. People became obsessed with it, so when he wrote a book, people bought it instantly. Use Reddit, Facebook groups, or a blog to talk passionately about your product. What makes your product different? Excite people about it.

Start a side hustle along with a 9–5 job

If you don’t know how people will respond to your product, begin it as a side hustle along a 9–5 job.

Pick an idea from the following money-making side hustles:

And see how people are responding to that idea/product/service.

Your goal is to launch a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). A product that is workable and people can easily use it.

As you progress, you can convert that product into a full-fleshed idea and earn from it. With an MVP, you can also test your target audience and get feedback on what more they need.

Scale as a creator before scaling your business

Scaling is crucial for business. If your business doesn’t scale, you will lose. So, a better approach is to scale as a creator. Grow subscribers, get followers, and engage with your audience. The more you engage and grow as a creator, the easier it will get to sell anything

And don’t just settle for one thing. Understand the growth pattern. Knowing how your audience is growing and which things are creating more buzz makes it easy to scale and sustain the business in the long run.

Closing thought

A 9–5 job is great, but it won’t make you wealthy.?To grow, scale, start a side hustle, learn everything possible, and start your business with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
