I live a very happy life but believe me it takes work to live this life. I must overcome the personal and professional pressure every day, to own my days and show up, to do what I do, best.
Recently I heard this phrase ‘Don’t Engage in the Struggle’ from a friend of mine. While telling her a story about some issues going on in my life, she very clearly told me not to engage in their struggle. I sometimes have a hard time backing away from any issue. So much so, that I even start engaging with strangers about their issues. This can be exhausting. As you try and live this life you have created, you must make sure that you don’t allow others to drag you down.
There are so many people who look to me for inspiration and motivation, and in order to be authentic about that, I need to keep everyone else’s struggles away from me. I can’t tell you how many times I am coaching someone who will not get out of their own way. From the excuses to the resistance, nothing I can say, will help them when they are not ready to change. The struggles are real but the resistance to change bad behavior, is stronger than the actual struggle.
The sun will come up every morning, regardless of what happens. You have a choice every day to make a difference in your life, and the lives you touch. There is no way to get today back, so don’t give it away to the struggle.
