DON'T DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO

This is not an article that preaches about how important it is to be successful, happy or wealthy in life, this is a reflection of how you want life to be like. Also this is not only for the little people but for anyone who believes has a professional life.?

As a younger me, deciding what my career would be was a very difficult decision. After exploring a few options something always stayed behind my thoughts and that was how films and advertisements were made. Every time I watched a movie or enjoyed a creative ad film, for days the thought of how it was conceived and executed lingered in my mind. Passing through a series of jobs and understanding all the nuances that underwent them, one fine day I found how I could educate myself which led me to become an intern at a film making firm and that's how I joined the industry of filmmaking. After years of working late hours, low salaries , not that I am complaining because those were the best learning experiences and that was the job that taught me all about films and the beauty that goes behind making films. Mostly, when we as an audience watch films we don't think about the efforts that go behind making it and get carried away by the face of the profession. Therefore thousands of people are attracted to become an actor whereas there are many technical positions that help in the production of films. There are script writers who actually imagine the film even before its made, Directors who make the film look what they are then there are cinematographers who capture the beauty of the scene imagined by the Director, a person who hides all the mistakes made during the production process and connects all shots together to show a complete picture is the Editor of the film, a music composer makes each scene come alive by adding a relevant background score and many such technicians and artists who are responsible for the creation of a piece of art like a film or an ad film. This list of artists carefully designing films does not end here, rather another list adds to it after animation and visual effects gets introduced. There are Animators, 3D modelers , texturing artists, Rigging artists and VFX artists. So, if you think that being an actor is the only way to succeed in the film business then think again. Besides films for entertainment there are also films made for companies which can be live shoots as well as animation. In today’s digital world, films are one of most trending ways of making people know about their business. Be it on TV or social media, films are on the top of the trending list. Next time you watch a film or laugh at a creative ad know that if you want to make a mark in this industry there is vast scope and you can contribute to it effectively.

So, when I say Don't do what you want to do... I really mean Do what you are passionate about, till then keep exploring and searching for something that keeps you awake all night and still in the morning makes you excited to go to work. As for me & my partner, every night we sleep with a new challenge and yet in the morning we wake up with a solution that kept us awake the other night. It is this routine that keeps our minds active and our heart happy.
