Don't Be A D**K!

Since last Friday I've not been within 2 metres of ANYONE! I haven't been to supermarkets, haven't filled my car with petrol, I've had hospital appointments cancelled, haven't seen my parents, my children, my grandchildren. Just like every smart person, I'VE KEPT MY DISTANCE.! It isn't helped by the fact I'm in a high risk group or that my loved one has to go to the supermarket, or worse that my daughter is a doctor, but hey ho such is life.
Concerningly what I am seeing more of is the finger pointers and judgementalist's or worse, morons that want to turn this into a marketing opportunity to bestow their sanctimonious views on the unsuspecting hordes. You can usually spot these clowns when they use terms such as "moral duty".
I understand we are scared, confused, uncertain about the future but now really isn't the time to be a dick. It's a time for compassion, support, common sense and yes perhaps education, but turning on those around us will only escalate the divisions, especially when we are all truly in this together. Please understand the worst is yet to come, and none of us will escape this unscathed.
Of course it has to be life before money, that isn't even a choice or question, but we must understand the impact closing down the economy will have for those fortunate enough to come out the other side. No matter how little, while still possible there needs to be something put back into the pot. Whether that's from contactless retailers such as Amazon (currently recruiting up to 100,000), M&S, Guess, eBay, or indeed someone self employed, sending out a balloon in a box to HELP put food on their table TODAY, because despite the governments extraordinary efforts and promises of cash, no one has actually received anything yet! Respect them don't attack them They are not a risk, they are part of the long term solution.
Providing they are exceeding government guidelines, they put a little less strain on the economy, and the ever growing demand for funds. There have been over 480,000 additional individuals applying for universal credits, and every company that has laid employees off, intends using the governments 80% furlough or accessing funding must be doing this for the right reasons, because I'm already seeing worrying signs of abuse. I sincerely hope those asking for and receiving help are doing it through absolute necessity.
This is how you give yourself and those around you the very best chance of survival, it may be hard and you may make the occasional slip but you act as if everyone in your immediate vicinity has the virus AND more importantly act as if you have it. Simply put, AVOID ALL CONTACT!
I honestly have no idea if my company or indeed I will survive this, I am trying to put whatever I can in place to increase our chances, but we are all in this together with no idea when it will end, but know this, it will end, so let's be decent human beings, decent employers, decent employees, decent friends. Be kind, look out for each other. Stay strong be positive, and let's help and support wherever we can right now.
Over the coming weeks and months, you are going to find out who the good guys (and gals) are by what they do and not what they profess to be or do. See if you can Spot The Dick, and yes despite my best intentioned efforts, I'm sure some of you will be giving me that accolade!
