Don't Die

Don't Die

"Don't Die" is the conclusion a tech billionaire who wants to live forever came to.

"I had this burning desire to be useful to the world.... I am going to make a bunch of money and then say around age 30 decide what to do then. I have been searching for this mission my whole life," Bryan Johnson told Tucker Carlson in an interview yesterday.

His mission? "To not die"

I relate to this crazy guy in one specific way, I want to be useful to the world. And, for most of my life, I have had the same initiation with life that I was going to make a bunch of money and then find a way to snowball it into changing the world for the better.

But his overall conclusion to simply "Not die" takes away from the beauty of life. For surely, all men must die to live forever.

Bryan grew up Mormon (a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) just like me. He served a 2 year mission in Ecuador and saw poverty first hand and felt the love and compassion anyone would in such a situation. He wanted to help.

Mormons believe God gave us all the gift of eternal life, that we will all be resurrected. And fundamentally, "Families are Forever."

As Bryan became a rich tech billionaire he became unhappy though. His stress response? Binge eating at night. (Mormons don't have a lot of outlets, no smoking, no alcohol)

He became agnostic, left his church, and decided to focus on "Not dying."

The media will have you believe that the more educated a man is the more likely they are to forgo religion or a belief in God. I believe this is false and I agree with Albert Einstein:

"The more I study science, the more I am amazed by the complexity of the universe and the more I believe in the existence of a creator."

I believe life can be prosperous in all things:

  1. Wealth
  2. Family
  3. Spirit
  4. Physical Fitness

There are very few men in the world who have succeeded at this.

Rich men like Elon Musk can't keep their family together. (11 children with three different women)

Jeff Bezos isn't far different, but he at least became physically fit.

Bryan Johnson left his faith and also split from his wife. Bryan has already "Spiritually died" and his family has "died" in a sense so he and failed his "Don't die" movement.

Perhaps it is not possible to identify the men who would qualify as prosperous in all things because they are humble and keep to themselves. But in this newsletter I plan to share my journey on trying to obtain the outcome of this mission.

I am on a mission to make myself useful to the world. And I hope to be the role model I seek.
