The greatest amount of wasted time is the time not getting started - Dawson Trotman
"Don't Delay Act Today" is the title of a book I recently read which shares us a step by step approach to beat procrastination.
This blog is intended for people who have an intention to grow but they are not able to do what they plan to do.
In this blog, I would like to cover 2 points
I read this book in a Single Sitting:
I was on an office trip, as soon as I reached the airport after the security check in was done I picked this book and started reading. You might think, you did not have any distraction so you would have done this. That is also right but there are three things in this book which made this book very engaging to read.
All of these factors motivated me and created the curiosity of what next, to complete this book in a single sitting straight 120 - 150 mins. Note: I am a very beginner reader, a pro reader good complete this book even faster. :)
The Step by step formula to become a Action taker
Step 1: Understand the purpose behind doing the task. Ask WHY?

purpose drives Actions
Step 2: Add elements of pleasure to your action to give motivation to complete the task
Step 3: Visualize the end in mind - this acts as a biggest motivator
Step 4: Attach positive emotions to the outcomes - What would be your feeling when you achieve what you achieve?
Step 5: Create a sense of urgency - set a time of completion and work towards that
Step 6: When you are working on bigger goals break them into tasks and further down, break those tasks in to smaller actions - when you complete each small action that gives motivation to pick up and complete the next task
Step 7: Review, Regularly and Frequently - this is going to help you, are you on right track?
Repeat this mantra "I will Do it now"
These are the 7 steps which could support you in combating the procrastination and makes you a action taker to reach your goals.

1 年Your summary nails down each step. Steps 3 and 5 - visualizing the outcome and time boxing the work have what helped me get a lot more done in relative terms. It may be worth calling out the need to be aware of Parkinson's law and effectively timebox the work/task!
