“As EV adoption grows in Illinois, so does the interest in certified, pre-owned EVs,” Chicago Automobile Trade Association President Jennifer Morand said. “CATA new-car dealers are committed to supporting vehicle electrification for interested consumers, and being able to offer a wide selection of pre-owned EVs that can benefit from a ComEd pre-owned electric fleet vehicle rebate is one of the many ways dealers are staying at the forefront of the EV revolution.”

Last week the CATA wrapped up the 3rd annual Chicago Drives Electric EV test drive event. This year’s event hosted more brands than ever before with more than 40 different models to experience from brands including Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, Toyota, and Volvo. Dodge, Fiat, Lexus and Nissan also participated in the media & industry event held just prior to the consumer event. Over the course of the weekend, Chicago Drives Electric attracted 1,630 total registered drivers and netted more than 6,102 in-vehicle experiences, an increase in attendance from previous years. We are looking forward to once again bringing Chicago Drives Electric into the 2025 Chicago Auto Show with an indoor test track and EV education hub. Today, we announced our new Point of Purchase #EV rebate initiative at Chicago Drives Electric! This unique initiative will deliver instant discounts to qualifying business and public sector customers in the market for electric fleet vehicles, powered by a growing collaboration of more than 30 auto dealerships, various EV manufacturers and local EV stakeholders. “Making the switch to electric vehicles shouldn’t be a challenge, which is why ComEd is committed to offering resources, tools and programs to remove barriers to EV adoption,” said Melissa Washington, our Senior Vice President of Customer Operations. “Earlier this year, we launched our EV rebate program to help make it easier for customers to make the switch to electric vehicles. The new Point of Purchase EV rebate initiative, and the ability to provide instant rebates to fleet customers, is a necessary continuation of our original offering to make widespread fleet electrification more achievable.” This initiative also leverages our EV Rebate Program, which launched nearly $90M in rebates this year to help make the transition to EVs accessible and equitable across northern Illinois, to support our efforts helping businesses and public sector customers accelerate their plans to electrify their vehicle fleets—including transitioning to light, medium and heavy duty on road electric vehicles, school buses and public transit buses. What better time to share this news as National Drive Electric Week is in full swing!
