Don't be a clone of the system. If you are not yourself, if you attempt to simulate the type of behavior you think the organization requires of you, then you will fail. To be successful, you should not be looking to the organization for guidance on how to behave on what to say, on what to do. You should be looking to yourself. When you are with your people, it is YOU that should be coming across. Your people should be able to see the COLOR of your personality, the strengths of your opinions. Too many mangers are 'gray'- suppressing their true self, failing to assert their views. They fear non-compliance and end up being nothing. They become mediocre. To be successful as a boss, be yourself but be positive.
