Don't be busy
Have you heard someone use the word busy in conversation? If so, be weary of using it yourself because you just be telling yourself a lie. Hear me out.
In modern, 21st century dialogue, busy is an excuse used by many to show how much they have going on, but the truth is we all have things going on. Therefore, the question is whether we are advancing, or retreating. Is what we are doing moving us forward, or just pushing us in a never-ending merry-go-round ride: moving, but going no where. Being busy is also lazy. We tell ourselves, and other’s, that we are busy to make us feel better and it might help for a brief moment, but long-term, being busy doesn’t get us anywhere. We don’t want other’s to think we are just sitting around all day, right? So we say we are busy, to mask the truth, to feed our ego, more or less. The truth is however, that we actually don’t get much done that really matters. Yes we are doing stuff, but is it moving us forward? That is for you to decide. So with that said…
Instead of busy, I want you to be prioritized. Be focused on your goals. Dig into the few things that matter. Stop spreading yourself so thin, building shallow holes that don’t help you long-term. When all is said and done you will be glad that you were in control, leading your life the way you want to. Culture has us believing a bunch of lies and being busy is just one of them. Learn to be prioritized and focused. The reward is way more satisfying looking back.
