Don't bury Subdued emotions, they may explode one day!

Everyone has a different way of treating their emotions arising from your mind and some people have emotional outbursts in a fit of anger or grief and give way to their emotions freely without even any provocation, whereas some have very tough exteriors and do not show any emotions on the surface but they may be boiling inside with a 'emotional time bomb'!

When we are faced with more complicated feelings of sadness and shame inside us and when they are buried deep, they can explode in the form of one of the most primitive and destructive emotions of all — anger. This may put you at an increased risk of heart disease. This rage causes a rush of stress hormones that increase energy and also rush of uncontrolled blood pressure. However, it’s not just your long-term health that can suffer if you try to suppress your negative emotions. There have been numerous psychological studies showing that when we regulate or ignore our emotions, we can experience short-term mental and physical reactions as well. Clinical Psychologist Victoria Tarratt says “Suppressing your emotions, whether it’s anger, sadness, grief or frustration, can lead to physical stress on your body. The effect is the same, even if the core emotion differs,” “We know that it can affect blood pressure, memory and self-esteem.”

Keeping a brave bold face can lead to stress and anxiety. You're constantly keeping your emotions in check, and as emotions are extremely powerful, that can be an extremely draining task to an individual which may lead to nervous breakdown.

What are the ways by which you can keep your emotions freely expressed and also not risking unnecessary suppressing the emotions inside your mind. Always spend some time alone may be at a beach or mountain top and let your steam off by ranting and swearing away and shouting out loudly using this as a channel of letting out suppressed emotions. In a movie I remember having seen whenever the hero wants to shout out his feelings he normally below the bridge when the running train goes in full speed he rants out loudly which cannot be heard by anyone else. In such a way the emotions buried deep inside come out naturally and make you feel better. In the Bollywood movie 'Jab We Met' the hero suggests the heroine to pick up the phone and swear at her ex-boyfriend in a full blast for ditching her without any reason. She of course feels much better after letting off the steam.

In today's digital world we are faced with so much criticism and trolling on the social media some times that one tends to get under pressure and live those moments full of tension and raised blood pressure reading some adverse comments. It is always better to either express your feelings directly or just by deleting those comments or blocking the person trolling you helps you to release your pressure and makes you feel relaxed. Be therefore open and frank about any tensions in life, share them with some buddy or close relative and do not let the pressure build inside your heart it is highly risky and dangerous health hazard for your life.

In due course of time, they may even end up their lives. Few people, mostly men, come to me telling that they don wanna live. They hate their lives. But all they want is someone to vent their emotions. To whom they can freely express their feelings, without prejudice or shaming. They ll be undergoing lots of emotional distress. We must help people to speak their emotions confidently, this will help in their physical and emotional well being. And the stereotypical society we live in, further adds fuel to the fire. You are a man and u can't cry. We must try to understand that all of us are just humans with flesh and blood! Thanks for the kind mention!!

Burying unwanted emotions into unconscious mind is the main cause of developing psychological disorders. When one tries to push unwanted emotions into unconsciousness, it does not just sit there, it keeps trying to enter conscious mind through different routes and in different guises, and cause discomfort unless it is resolved. Such emotions harm the individuals psychologically and physically. Hence, it is best to accept your own desires and wants and make peace with it mentally.
