Don’t be the boiled frog. Jump.

Don’t be the boiled frog. Jump.

Have you ever heard of the boiling frog syndrome? In the late 1960’s researchers behind a science experiment found out that when they put a frog in a pan of boiling water, the frog just jumped out. Next time they put the frog into a pan filled with cold water and started heating the water. As the temperature of the water started to rise, the frog adjusted its body temperature accordingly. The frog kept adjusting its body temperature with increasing temperature of the water… and boiled to death, slowly without realizing it was fading away.

What killed the frog?

Boiling water? No.

The truth about what killed the frog was its own inability to decide when to jump out. The change in temperature was so gradual, the frog did not even realize it’s boiling to death.

Just like the frog we humans have incredible power to adjust. With people and circumstances.

But way too often, we keep on adjusting and allow external situations to put us in an unwanted situation. We sit there and allow the boiling water to take over and never jump out.

A consequence of this boiling frog syndrome is climate change.

Too many of us have been adjusting our behavior over time and simply can’t see a way out. We keep doing as we always have done and hope someone else will make the change or take the jump.

But the planet is dying. We are facing a climate crisis. The water is close to boiling point. Don’t be the boiling frog. Jump. Even if it’s a small clumsy jump. Just jump, and jump again and again.

At The Good Fridge we have committed our team to help as many of you jump, and keep you jumping.

We believe your diet is a great place to start jumping. It counts for 25% of all CO2 emissions.

No advancement in transportation and no energy revolution meets the potential to slow down global warming like awareness for smart food choices.

So, even if your jump is a small one it helps. Because over time your small jumps will add up and the impact will be massive. Bigger than you could imagine.

The purpose of the Good Fridge is not to fuel climate fanaticism, but rather to support us all make better decisions every time we shop for groceries. We do not believe that there is a need to disrupt our eating habits and shopping patterns in order for us all to live a more healthy and climate friendly life. Instead we firmly believe that sustainable change comes from the small changes we all make in our everyday life. Just like the frog in the pan, except this time the small changes you make are for the better for you and the planet.

Over time all your small changes will add up, and you will find out that you are playing a significant part of saving our planet.

Let’s jump.
