Don't Blame Your Low, Handle It
We all go through our share of lows. Often it is about careers, sometimes life. There are times when you just feel low, irrelevant, unreciprocated, unfairly sentenced, lost, angry, adrift..... the list of emotions are endless. These are all normal emotions. The issue is one of dealing with how you treat your low.
Sharing some thoughts with anyone who is going through, has gone through or will go through:
1. Don’t Bludgeon Yourself: The easiest trap is to blame yourself. May neither be free nor true. Learn from the reflection. Acknowledge. But never whip yourself endlessly.
2. Forgive and Possibly Forget: Many times you are dealt with unfairly. Period. Sometimes the other side has blind spots or is vulnerable to being manipulated. And not everyone will want to empathise with you. They either have other worries of their own or more pragmatic political compulsions. Accept human frailties. Move on. Your angst only worries you and no one else.
3. Dust off and Pick Yourself Up: Many tines these lows are watersheds for reinvention, reinvigoration and the next big leap. Think creatively optimistically. Reimagine your life. Do something that gives energy. Maybe a new hobby that nurtures you back. Or a new skill. And irrespective of how trying it may seem it is essential we keep our head high.
4. Keep the company of Positive People: Often others love to gossip about your misery. Avoid these people. Keep with those who may keep you honest but are fundamentally positive for you. These days can help you redo your friends list. Many who you thought were on that list aren’t. And you discover new and more authentic ones to put on that revised ones.
5. Keep the fire inside you ablaze: There is nothing that a person with passion, zeal, grit and perseverance cannot achieve. Work on what gives you the octane. From a burn-out move to setting new possibilities afire. There are so many things that we never earlier thought of doing. And suddenly you seem to be enjoying a new way of living and doing. As they say, slow down to move faster.
The impossible was always possible, good and the not so good. There is never an end of the road; there is just a turn, howsoever, sharp. Or a new road. Just keep your wheels moving. And keep your fires burning! Or light new ones.

3 年Life is always a cycle of highs and lows, though the span of each is often unequal. While this amazing short article and several others prescribe what one should do while experiencing the lows, very few insightful articles are available on hot to handle the highs - the successes and keep going, sustaining it as long as possible while staying hungry and foolish. Would love to have your thoughts and insights on this as well Prabir Jha
