"Don't blame people for disappointing you, blame yourself for expecting to much out of them."

Unrealistic expectations are the #1 reason for disappointment. Don't allow other people's behavior to derail your focus as you move toward your goals. When disappointment occurs, it is just a detour around a pothole. Don't focus on the pothole, focus on paths around it which will put us back on our journey to success. When we dwell on the pothole, we will become discouraged and stop moving forward.
Tips on keeping momentum in the midst of disappointment:
- Don't be tempted to imitate behavior. We need to be careful not to get into the mindset of, " Well if they do it, I can do it". We need to always take ownership of our actions. Focus on your goals and treating people around you with respect by respecting their time, schedule, and activity.
- Focus on the small details. The small details are important in success. Being on time, returning communication in a reasonable time, following through with commitments, and approaching commitments with preparation. These are but a few small details which set us apart from the majority.
- Don't allow disappointment turn into discouragement. We will all experience disappointment, we need to not allow it to turn into discouragement. Disappointment turns into discouragement when we allow the challenge to derail our momentum. Detours are expected, dwelling on the circumstances will create a loss of focus and cause us to stop.
Focus on the desired goals. Expect to achieve them everyday. Today, I will make a difference in the lives around me. Our mindset is Key! #mindsetiskey #momentum
