Are you sure your faith is built on a strong foundation?
In the words of John, if we embrace lies about doctrine, then we are lost and not truly being a Christian. It’s easy to think that we or our church are immune to such falsehoods, but the Bible teaches wherever pride exists, a fall is likely to follow.
The word and the Spirit are our safeguards against lies, as we see in 1 John 2:24–27.

“As for?you,?see that?what you heard from the beginning remains in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who are?trying to?deceive you. And?as for?you, the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you remain in Him,” (1 John 2:24–27).
To ensure we stay on the right path, we must keep what we heard in the beginning and give diligent attention to the message of the Gospel. It takes commitment to the whole of the Bible and John tells us the your way to eternity depends on it.
But in a world where we’re constantly bombarded by new and exciting insights, it’s easy to overlook the timeless message of the Gospel. Many of us want to hear something new, something better, and we turn our backs on the old insights — that are truly forever new.
So let’s not make the Gospel we love the Gospel we barely know.?Instead, let’s follow the intuition given to us by the Holy Spirit that indwells us. This is what will truly progress us in our Christian walk and keep us from following the errors of man. It’s the mercy of God and the word and Spirit that keep us under correct doctrine.
Remember, your faith is only as strong as its foundation. Make sure yours is built on the solid ground of the Gospel, with the word and Spirit as your guide.
