Once upon a time, in a vibrant forest, a donkey and a tiger engaged in a fervent debate about the color of the grass. The donkey firmly believed that the grass was blue, while the tiger insisted that it was green. They sought arbitration from the wise and powerful lion, who without investigation, proclaimed that the grass was blue. The donkey, triumphant in its victory, urged the lion to punish the tiger for disagreeing and causing annoyance. The lion declared that the tiger would face one year of silence as punishment.
?However, the tiger accepted the punishment and questioned the lion privately, “Your Majesty, why have you punished me when the grass is, in fact, green?” The lion calmly responded, “Indeed, the grass is green. However, the punishment stems not from the color of the grass but from wasting time arguing with a foolish donkey and disturbing my peace.”
?Here’s my take on learnings from this parable:
Choose Your Battles Wisely: The parable teaches us the importance of discernment when engaging in debates or discussions. It is crucial to assess the significance and potential outcome of an argument before investing our time and energy.?Engaging with individuals who are driven by ego, hatred, or a refusal to accept reality often leads to frustration and wasted effort.
Focus on Truth and Understanding: The lion’s punishment of the tiger serves as a reminder that seeking truth and understanding should take precedence over winning arguments. While the tiger initially engaged in the debate, it eventually realized the futility of continuing and chose to prioritize wisdom over proving its point.

Practice Emotional Intelligence: The donkey’s manipulative behavior highlights the destructive nature of ego-driven actions. It is essential to develop emotional intelligence and recognize when one’s ego is clouding judgment or fueling unnecessary conflicts. By staying calm, composed, and objective, we can better navigate through challenging situations and maintain inner peace.
?This parable teaches valuable lessons about arguments and virtues like wisdom, understanding, and tranquility. It advises us to choose our battles wisely, focus on truth and understanding, and practice emotional intelligence. Instead of wasting energy on unproductive disputes, we should invest in personal growth, understanding, and respectful conversations.

1 年Can't agree more Sir. Sometimes not indulging and thus avoiding a conflict is the best possible way to emerge out as a winner. Not every dispute, disagreement and argument deserves our time, efforts and energy.
