Donations in Memory of Sharon Kashino
Donations in Sharon's Memory:
I've been asked by quite a few people about donations in memory of my wife Sharon, and thought I'd provide the following list since this is what she and I had discussed.
First and Foremost are donations to Myeloma Canada. Myeloma Canada is a registered non-profit organization created by and run by people living with and fighting Multiple Myeloma. They fund research and knowledge and support networks around Multiple Myeloma specifically. Not to take anything away from the Canadian Cancer Society, but we felt that donating to Myeloma Canada would allow these funds to be specifically focused towards Multiple Myeloma which Sharon fought.
The second choice for donations is both monetary and more. The second choice is the Canadian Blood Services. You can donate money to them or more importantly, blood. Sharon fought this disease hard and if it wasn't for the blood transfusions she received up until the end, she would never have had the chance to go this long or to make it to Nathaniel's birthday. In the end, she was receiving multiple transfusions of blood and platelets weekly. The platelets where being basically eaten by the disease. I can't tell you how many of these she had in the last week alone, but it helped to ease her suffering and help her to reach her goal of Christmas and Nathaniel's birthday. It also helped to keep her going and in new Clinical Trials for 3 years. So, if not money, please consider a blood donation.
So please think about these 2 options in her memory.
A third choice that I am working out details on is a donation to our youngest children Trinh (7 years) and Nathaniel's (11 years) orphanage in Vung Tau, Vietnam. I don't know the details yet of how to do this but if this is where you would like to donate in her name, please let me know. Her wish was that in the next 2 years, I get the 3 kids to Viet Nam will be fulfilled, and we will donate funds there in her name.
