This donation doesn't cost you anything , so why dont you !
Some practices die hard.
In my first year of graduation sainath malligemadu sir introduced a routine to me and many other NSS volunteers S.D.M. Law College, Mangalore . That was "Start donating blood" , next 5 years i made it a point to donate every quarter. If there was no camp in college, we used to go to Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and do it , snacks, Juice & medical students was bonus ?? . Apart from this, he made sure we do some volunteering every month through out college years. Those years, really helped me shape my outlook towards life. My 5 years of effort was further rewarded via "Karnataka Governors Award for best NSS volunteer".
During MBA and first couple of years in job, i went with the flow and didnt do much . But when i moved back to Pune, got the groov back and started engaging with Sasoon Hospital. We at Cognizant then had helped the hospital set up its Thalessemia ward and they need a lot of blood on a regular basis. Most of the patients at Thalaseeimia ward are from underprivileged community and 2 blood transfusion a month for life adds a lot of stress to them. What we could do is to take the stress of getting blood away. We used to make sure, there is a camp every quarter and during and during college vacation times, the demand shoots up and i have helped them get donations from many corporate around Pune.
So for good 6 years i have donated almost 3/4 times a year. Post starting up, couldn't contribute much in the initial years apart from getting camp organised in our society & corporates . But since last 2 years, we at True Elements have made it a practise to get a blood donation camp arranged at our office every quarter.

The photo is from my second donation of the year making my total number of donation crossing 40 in my life. Now at True Elements there are many who are getting into this habit. One need to just hydrate post donation that's it, I have had 5Km runs post donation. This time after donating on saturday i was on road for almost 12 hours. So it doenst cost anything in donating blood.

2 年August 2022 .. I was also introduced to blood donation in my teens at SDM Law College. However, I could not regularly do it because HB was lesser than required. However, this August, there was a medical emergency for a friend’s father. Luckily, vitals were good and I could do my part. ??

2 年Just curious if there are any preconditions to donate ( like hb, hypertension, etc)? Does it hurt? How long does it take?
