Donate solar panels for Lebanese schools
Sola?s continues its call for donations to provide solar panels to Lebanese schools, in response to the ongoing electricity crisis.?
We are calling on all manufacturers of photovoltaic modules and organizing a campaign to collect solar panels to supply electricity to 12 primary and secondary schools located in priority areas. The panels must be functional and in good condition to produce the electricity the schools need.
Electricity is crucial to almost every aspect of daily life, and in particular to the functioning of schools, to ensure that classes can continue. In Lebanon, however, electricity shortages are taking their toll on schoolchildren's daily lives. Due to an unprecedented economic crisis, the national power supplier, Electricity of Lebanon, is no longer able to supply electricity to homes, schools and infrastructure. The only recourse: generators that run on fossil oil, which is very expensive for schools and highly polluting.?
Today, the state provides only a few hours of public electricity a day, and most public schools are closed. With over 80% of the population living below the poverty line, more and more children are dropping out of school.?
The solidarity of private schools makes it possible to welcome these elementary and secondary schoolchildren of all faiths, but the rising cost of fuel oil is threatening the supply of energy and the continuity of classes.?
