Safeguarding Associates for Excellence (SAFE) prides itself on providing up to date and enriched training.
We are excited to add 5 new Domestic Abuse & Coercive Control courses to our list of training for 2023.
Working with SAFE associates Ed Carney and Pete Henderson to deliver courses ranging from Domestic Abuse & Coercive Control Awareness, Domestic Abuse & Coercive Control -Best practice in the Workplace to Risk Assessment & Sexual offending. We have both Safeguarding Adults and Children covered.
Meet Ed Carney
Ed works to positively influence and train those that are either negatively affected by Domestic Abuse or for those who work with individuals that have been. Over 13 years in this field, Ed has worked with both male and female victims, also children who have been impacted by domestic abuse delivering one-to-one and group interventions both on line and in the community including local area Safeguarding Boards.
Ed delivers in support groups to parents of those affected by their children’s abusive patterns of behaviour, as well as children who are modelling or developing abusive patterns in their own behaviours. Previously Ed has worked with parents victimised through Child on Parent (Filial abuse) as a parenting specialist in a Youth Offending Team.
Ed is practising risk assessor for perpetrators as well as working as a Safelives qualified Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor (IDVA).
Meet Pete Henderson

A professional trainer and a probation officer, for the past 7 years Pete has delivered training on Domestic Abuse and Sexual Abuse to social care staff across England and Wales. After joining the National Probation Service following a career in teaching, as a front-line practitioner managing complex Domestic Abuse and Sexual Abuse cases in a community and custody setting.?This work involves working with survivors and those who perpetrate Domestic and Sexual Abuse.
Moving into Learning and Development, for the past 6 years Pete has been delivering training to staff within the CJS on areas including Risk of Serious Harm, Domestic Abuse, Sexual Offending and Effective Engagement Skills.
The regional lead in the delivery of Spousal Assault Risk Assessment (SARA) training, the main risk assessment tool used in the CJS for perpetrators of Domestic Abuse, Pete also trained in the delivery and use of the Domestic Abuse Stalking and Honour Based Violence (DASH) risk assessment tool.
Our experts aim is to prevent more victims by equipping professionals with the skills, knowledge and understanding to assess and address the risks where there is Domestic Abuse and Sexual Abuse. Domestic Abuse is everyone’s business. Together we can intervene early to prevent future victims, and where abuse exists, support survivors and hold to account those who perpetrate this behaviour.
