A recent headline read: "A boiler blast and the resultant fire in Amudan Chemicals, located in Phase 2 of Dombivli MIDC, on Thursday killed nine persons and injured more than 60." However, it wasn't a boiler; the Factory Inspection Team clarified that no boiler was in operation at this factory. The explosion occurred in a mixing reactor.

It is the prime responsibility of the organization's management, along with government authorities like DISH, Fire Departments and MIDC, to ensure that rules and regulations are stringent for hazardous industries whether it SME or large scale. Regular safety audits, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments for small, medium, and large-scale industries must be diligently practiced. A proactive approach by industrialists, safety officials above their limits, invest in safety of plant is today's need of growing chemical industry in India.
