Have you ever needed to look up information about your website and domain name? Sometimes we work with people who don't know and can't get that info from their previous web designer.
Here are some resources I use to do that type of research - there are others, I'm just accustomed to using these:
Whois.Icann.org - to identify the domain name registrant. Most domain registrars have a "whois" lookup. This is the key piece of information - the "REGISTRANT" should be you or someone associated with your company. You can also see when the domain expires, here. If the domain is privately registered, you'll see that here too.
WhoIsHostingThis.com - to find out where a site is hosted
BuiltWith.com - to find out what was used to build a site
Of these - the most important is the domain name. You can always rebuild a website; but if you lose control of your domain, you may never get it back.
