Chargeback Fraud and Why Union54 Stopped Issuing Cards

Union54, a card issuing provider for fintech businesses, stopped their virtual card service because they faced $1.2 billion in chargeback fraud last year.

They discovered that many cardholders tried to make purchases without funding the card. In another case, cardholders were increasingly attempting to defraud merchants by requesting chargebacks after their orders had been fulfilled.

These fraud attempts posed a threat and caused Union54 to stop their card operations.

How UK Tech Scene is Fighting Online Fraud

The UK, like every other region, faces its fair share of digital fraud. Romance scams, identity fraud, and investment scams are some of the common crimes in the UK.

TechUK has a community of over 950 members comprising of cyber security companies, digital identity providers, and telecommunications companies. Their members are coming together and developing new campaigns and strategies to combat online fraud effectively.
