Job Seekers - Has Your Job Search Reached a Dead End?

Jobseekers, every wonder why your job search is going nowhere?

If you are relying on applying to jobs posted online to get the next job, you're doing the job search all wrong.

As a former job seeker with 2.5 years of experience brought on by the hardship of the pandemic, the following advice will help you survive the job search.

Experience has revealed many of the online postings for jobs are not real opportunities. Here's some of the reasons:

1. The company already has an internal candidate selected. The posting is just a Compliance Requirement from Human Resources.
2. The company is looking to hire based on getting a contract for future business and not to fill an immediate need.
3. The company is considering a reorganization of their workforce which may not happen.

In each of these examples, there is not job to be filled. Just an opportunity to collect resumes in case there's a future client or complying with an internal HR Policy. All you are going to get in these situations is ghosted. Why? It was never the company's intention to hire anyone from outside the company.

So how do I get the next job? A better question is "Do you know about the hidden job market?"

??85% of those roles are filled because the applicant was known personally by the hiring manager.

??73% of roles filled are not even posted on a job board.

Getting noticed through content creation and networking is how people get hired in the hidden job market. It's a new day and a new game. It's no longer as much as what you know, but who you know. How do you get to be known?

If you are reading this, you have the most powerful tool to become known. LinkedIn is the best social media platform for professionals.

The plan is simple. The rewards are off the charts if you follow this plan:

??Post one piece of original content Monday - Friday. Reposting other's content doesn't count.

??Spend 20 minutes before posting your content engaging in other peoples content.

??Spend one hour after posting your content engaging in your own and other people's posts.

??Target companies where you want to work. Find who are the decision makers. Follow them and engage in their content.

??Make connections with leaders and decision makers in your industry. Get to know them and build a relationship.

Yes, these 5 steps take time and may cause you to step outside your comfort zone. But it's productive time which leads you somewhere.

All it takes is the right connection. The one introduction to a decision maker. Then the opportunities will come to you. When they come, 1/2 the battle is won! You are ahead of 90% of the other candidates.
