Lessons on Leadership - The First 90 Days!
Congratulations! You just started as Leader for your new company. You were picked because there are problems to be solved, and YOU are the person the company trusted to get the job done. The presure starts. Your boss wants immediate results. Other departments are complaining about your team. Your team is complaining about other departments. Goals are not being met! Your team's Customer Satisfaction survey scores are low. Morale among the team is low! Team members are "Quiet Quitting" and it shows.
You have to do something quickly! Everyone is watching, and you have to prove yourself to the boss! What do you do? What do you do?
First of all... STOP!
Unless there's an emergency need, do not make enterprise-wide changes! The wrong move will be a career-ending disaster!Making sudden changes is the wrong step to take when you are walking into a new company as a Leader.
Here's what should be your plan for the first 90 days as a new leader. A 10-Step Plan to ensure you are successful!
? Build Relationships with your team and key stakeholders.
? Begin to build trust with everyone
? Learn all about the business
? Ask questions - gain knowledge
?Find the right people to push through a transformation.
? Engage with them to develop a collaborative plan
? Get plan approval from management and key stakeholders
? Communicate, communicate, communicate.
? Create a reporting structure, and provide timely status updates to everyone.
? Have contingency plans ready to execute.
Follow these steps, and you will become a hero! Ignore the steps; become a zero!

Is This the Recruiter of the Year?
领英推荐
If you were to ask job seekers on LinkedIn what is the most frustrating thing about the job search, the number one answer is being "Ghosted" by recruiters.
Before going any further, I have many friends and connections who are professional recruiters. They do a great job in bringing companies and candidates together into a working relationship. Talent Acquisition is not an easy profession. Often times it's thankless. Other times their employers or clients are difficult to work with when it comes to filling roles.
The following message is for the ones who give the industry a bad name.
I beg you to stop ghosting candidates. Ghosting candidates destroys their dignity, shatters their confidence, and elevates a stressful situation off the charts. This is a case where "No News" is not "Good News".
While it's true you are busy, you are never busy enough to inform applicants about the status of their application. Even if the news is bad for the applicant, at least it's closure and they can put their hopes somewhere else.
Here's a suggestion: Pick a time of day and block it off the calendar. Next use the block of time to respond to your candidates. Make it a part of your routine. The job seekers will appreciate it very much.
Will this suggestion work? Let me know in the comments section.
Job Seekers - Stop Living the Definition of Insanity! There is a Better Way.
We can all agree about Ghosting being unprofessional conduct.
But there is something you can do to minimize the impact of being ghosted by recruiters.
The best chance to avoid being ghosted is not playing the same jobseaker game 90% of the rest are playing. This involves getting out there and tapping into the "Hidden Job Market." Consider the following stats:
So why are you living the definition of insanity? Don't you think it's time to change how you are playing the job search game?
