Doing things differently

DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY

Each further step would make the maze more
complicated. Perhaps Tush knew this, but the
adventurous spirit that’s so very present in him
always, led the way ahead. After the lectures got over
one Sunday, Tush followed his heart and started his
brisk journey towards the woods of Mira road. He
started from just near the Tapari and with a merry
song on his lips went along. He couldn’t resist
stopping at the banks of a lake and observing the
fullness of water, the calmness that soothed. While
the evening sun cast its reflection sharply in the
blue waters, the sight was one to treasure forever.
Tush indeed felt “There is all the oxygen I needed
here”. Closing his eyes, he made a special prayer for
everyone’s peace and well being and continued his
strange journey.
The brown earth’s sheet was spread far and wide and it
had already been an hour since the journey began.
A sudden loud growl startled Tush and his “Lays”
packet dropped instantaneously from his hands. After a
moment’s gasp, he was back to normal and delighted to
see a lion in front of him.
“So large, so big, - he’s the king of the jungle,
So smart, so intelligent, I never ever bungle!”

HeHe HeeHee HaaHaaHaa
I like, I love, I adore nature’s sonata !

For a moment it was difficult to decipher what was
going on. The two of them and their body language
would compel one to infer that they were childhood
friends. Tush even named the lion “King Jungle”
(inspired from King Uncle). After having a lovely time
together, the friends departed. The sun was slowly
descending towards the sea, like a ball of fire
getting extinguished by sheer power of water. Tush
resumed his journey, bushes brushing his shoulders and
dewdrops of green leaves wetting his hands.
It was exactly 7.00 p.m. when Tush reached a shed that
lay like an odd object amidst the rich greenery. The
shed was similar to the odd part of an unusual
combination that is often reflected in an amateur
artist’s work. The shed had a tea-stall where workers
for “Nature’s signature” complex came for their cuppa.
Tush was delighted to take a break and sip nectar-like
fresh tea. He waved the cup to the blue sky, as his
regular gesture of conversing with nature and sharing
the delight.
So far so good, thought he and was glad that his inner
quest of playing “Wanderer in the woods” had been
satisfied.
As he thought of returning back and just turned
around, he heard a thud and sensed some movement. The
next moment, an apple fell on his head and he felt
like “NEWTON”. He thought to himself, “An apple fell
on Newton’s head and he discovered gravity. Perhaps
I’d rather eat it and discover satiety!” Heeee heee
hee. He ate the apple and relished the juicy fruit.
All this while, Tush had ceased to be a management
student and was just a free bird exploring the
possibilities amidst the vast expanse of nature’s
sheets.
Suddenly, a brown sack appeared in front of his eyes
and soon he could see nothing. He was being kidnapped!
Not one to be afraid of anything, Tush told them that
they were not doing the right thing. However, the two
kidnappers (girls both) had different plans and Tush’s
warning didn’t have any impact. Tush asked from inside
the brown sack, “ Why on earth have you kidnapped me,
you ladies?”
The more beautiful among the two, Grapsy answered, “We
are working on a project for a research firm and your
name was finalized as a potential candidate for “A one
of a kind” species. Furthermore, your director and
many colleagues of yours confirmed that you are truly
“One of a kind”.
This was what all of them said,
“He will come without an umbrella on a rainy day” –
Jaggi said
“He will ask questions on space and planets in the
finance lecture” – said Latha Mam
“He will make you laugh with his smart add-ons to
others’ statements – said Chris
“He will convince by hook or by crook that he has a
point” – said the Director
“He will always make an attempt to learn, regardless
of the subject” – said Jitu
“He will show total dedication and do utmost justice
to whatever project he undertakes” – said Ashok Kumar

Slimy was the other kidnapper. Both of them then
uncovered the “Species in the sack” and started
bombarding questions. Tell us about yourself
Why are you the way you are?
Why you ignore the things near to you and see what is
far?
Why you show such a complete interest in whatever you
do?
Why are you honest and so very true/?

“May I answer now?” – that was Tush’s question.
“Rightaway” – that was their permission

“So listen you two beautiful ladies,
You have flattered me and I am pleased,
I am a bit whimsical, that goes without saying
But that helps my heart for happy staying,
I may knock on a closed door,
I may play volleyball indoor
I sometimes observe the rainbow when others curse the
rain
I may answer the “less important” questions nicely and
leave the main
I am honest as my heart asks me to be that way,
I try to do good acts each and every day,
I am and will remain like this,
That’s for sure – Come what may”

“Hmm…” Grapsy said “ Pretty interesting…Too
interesting to stop so soon
So go on, Mr one of a kind, while we note your traits
in the slate of our mind”

“Okay, so here I go again,
But I am so sorry, we are interrupted by the rain
Let’s have a cuppa…”

“It will affect our complexion..hayo rabba” – the
kidnappers said

“Well you have to, else I shan’t entertain,
You know what I am saying?”

“Ok ok let’s go for it Grapsy” - said Slimy.

While the three were having their tea, Mr Ahuja was
seen, his shirt out as usual. He had his bag that had
a crescent moon stitched on it.

“Hey Tush – flirting are you? - A

“No no – silly you” - T

“Then what is this happening and why are you here” - A

“How come you crossed this lane, first let us hear” -
T

“Okie.. I wanted to choose a nice location for the
shoot of my forthcoming video
“Energy US”.
And I finalized on this.

“Who’s this?” asked Slimy

Well, “we are two of a kind” said Tushar

“So tell us more, what are you Mr Amz”
“Well, I hope you are just hearing and there are no
secret camz”
“Don’t worry, trust us- we are innocent students”
“So here I go at once-

I like to be positive, let me be very clear
I don’t give up ever, always in top gear
There is passion in me, an urge that drives
An empowering spirit that always thrives.

I have a liking for music
And especially music that rocks,
I love to think about some philosopher
And get engrossed in his talks

That’s Amz for you, briefly introduced,
I hope you haven’t got confused!"

The two of a kind had served as pretty interesting
subjects for the damsel duo kidnappers
They had been noting the traits of Tush and Amz.

They took an about turn and all of them proceeded
towards Dalmia again, when it was 8.00 at night.

Tushar was in a mood to tell a joke. So he began, “You
know why didn’t the president of US see the movie,
“Men in black”?”
Tush, let me reply said Amz!
His answer was, “Well, cause he would have loved to
see women in black”
Heeeehheeeee heeeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeee

“ Nice try, but a miss.” Said Tush
Grapsy and Slimy chose not to try and now they had
almost reached the banks of the lake where Tush had
spent time earlier.
Tush replied, “Since the president stays in a White
House he doesn’t like to see anything black”
“VERY SMART”  - the rest roared

The journey continued with some more of Tush’s gags
and some spiritual talk by Amz. As they were just a
few steps away from the tapari, they were surprised to
see Professor Dias approaching and congratulating
Grapsy and Slimy (actually Teena and Meena).
When the shocked faces of Tush and Amz looked like
they deserved an explanation, Prof Dias let them know
what the whole story was.

“Actually, Teena and Meena are my very favourite
students. They are your juniors. However, they always
had a habit of “DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY”. So in the
Business Communication class, when everyone else was
asked to have an informal talk with neighbours and
friends, Teena and Meena were put to this task. I
asked them to do this surprise conversation without
revealing their identities. It seemed the best way to
satisfy their pursuit of doing things differently and
to have a bit of fun too. The whole thing was covered
live by the hidden camera given to them in
co-operation with Dalmia Dhamaal Networks”
“But why we, of all the people?” – Tush and Amz
questioned
“Simple! As you are TWO OF A KIND”
“But how did Teena and Meena know where they would be
able to catch me?”
As usual Tushar had asked a difficult question.
“Well, Mr. Tushar you had announced to the whole world
that you were looking forward to going to the green
interiors of Mira Road and probably on a Sunday. That
was enough indication for us” – Teena and Meena
replied.
“It was our fortune that Amz too dropped in.”
“Well, you get 9 out of 10. The one mark deducted is
because you made me suffocate for a while in the silly
bag.”
The smiles that decorated Tush and Amz’s faces were a
delight to see.
