Doing the Right Thing

I wrote this message about recent events to the global Silicon Labs team today, and would like to share it with the community.

Everyone:

Right now, we are wrestling with a lot – a global pandemic, severe economic disruption, and now violence and demonstrations across the country in protest of the murder of an unarmed Black American by police. These events have laid bare the divisions in our society from a legacy of racism and systematic injustice combined with rising inequality and too many people being left behind. How we respond to these challenges will not only define our lives but will impact the world for decades to come.

At Silicon Labs, we meet our commitments and hold ourselves accountable. These commitments extend beyond project schedules and customer deliverables, requiring us to stand up for each other and with the communities in which we live and work. Embracing those who think differently and have diverse backgrounds, encouraging open and respectful dialog, and rejecting discrimination not only make us better innovators and teammates, but more accountable global citizens as well.

While the events over the last weeks and months are deeply disturbing, I believe we are on a trajectory of progress and hope. With each passing day, take a moment to reflect on what the future can look like and how together we can build a more connected world in every sense. Go for a walk with your family, call a loved one, reach out to a neighbor or friend, or lend a helping hand to someone who is struggling. If we remain committed to our values and continue to stand up for what is right, we will emerge from this stronger as a company and at the same time make the world a better place for everyone.

It’s the right thing to do.
