Doing the right thing

Doing the right thing

I live/work in a very process/compliance driven environment, where I find myself and many of my colleagues scurrying around, navigating SOPs and Policies written to drive efficiencies and legislate morality. I see many attempting to do the right thing and yet are conditioned to CYA for fear of retribution from their authority, i.e boss (but what if our authority was ourselves?!). Fortunately I work in an environment (though heavily compliance and process driven) where my boss gives me "authority" to do the right thing as best I know how.

So I found myself presented with a situation today and instead of going to the playbook of SOPs, Policies and CYAs, I paused and asked myself, "What's the right thing to do?" I had to chose between fear of process infringement and expediting the right thing. ?A subtle voice whispered in my ear, "when faced with this crossroad in your life always err on the side of "do the right thing". ?Listening to our own inner wisdom and guidance cannot be wrong and once again i was reminded, do the right thing. So in honor of this sometimes forgotten life principle, let me share a poem written by an anonomous source.

Poem - "Crossroads" by anonomous.

"In the tapestry of life, where choices intertwine, There's a guiding principle, a beacon that shines. It whispers softly in the heart's gentle ring, A simple command: just do the right thing.

In moments of doubt, when paths diverge wide, And the voice of temptation seeks to misguide, Listen closely, let your conscience sing, For true fulfillment lies in doing the right thing.

It's not always easy, this path we tread, Filled with trials and tests, where faith may be led. But in the face of darkness, let your spirit take wing, And soar above the fray, choosing the right thing.

For the right thing is noble, the right thing is pure, A beacon of light in a world unsure. It's a compass, a compass, a guiding star, Leading us onward, no matter how far.

So let us be brave, let us be bold, In the pursuit of truth, let our story be told. For in each righteous act, our souls take wing, And we find our purpose in doing the right thing."

Let me end by saying to ya'll....enjoy a purpose driven day today and do the right thing.
