Doing the Opposite with Jeff Dewing

Another fantastic month has flown by and with more exciting things to come it most certainly will not be a quiet summer.

Mindsett Goes Live at Rank Group.

This past month, on top of getting them set up with FM services, we have rolled out our Mindsett PRISM? devices across 40 Rank Group venues.

From the minute we engaged with the Rank Group they have been excited to further their Net Zero journey through our partnership. One of many initiatives we are undertaking with them involves helping them to reduce their energy consumption via behavioural change.

From the moment our PRISM? devices are installed and switched on they will gather data and information, which we feed team members and venue management via dashboards, reports, and a mobile app. What is key is how that data is used and actioned.

In conjunction with team members from the Rank Group and sustainability leads and energy coaches from the Cloudfm Group, we are excited to influence and promote positive energy-saving behaviours across all Rank Group venues.

Our Mindsett IoT technology has continued to go from strength to strength in the past few months. In addition to the phenomenal partnership with the Rank Group, we recently secured a registered trademark for our PRISM? in relevant sectors.

Our Mindsett data scientists and engineers have also had an exciting month as they received an award from the University of Essex for their contributions to innovation. Cody Xiaozhan Yang and Sean Wang attended the universities ‘Celebrating Excellence in Research and Impact Awards 2023’ where we won the category of ‘Best Research Impact in Enterprise and Innovation’.

This was for our Knowledge Transfer Partnership project on predictive maintenance to further reduce the downtime of equipment and improve FM analysis and asset monitoring.

Changing Seasons: Doing the Opposite: Business Disruptors Season Four coming soon.

Season three of my podcast Doing the Opposite: Business Disruptors has just come to a close and what a season it was.

Not one to sit on my hands and stick to the status quo we decided to mix it up this past season and take a more rounded approach. We held panel discussions on important ESG topics with industry experts that lead to some fascinating conversations.

We ended the season with a bang thanks to a great chat with Sue Fennessy, founder and CEO of WeAre8 which hopes to change the future of social media by building a platform that is positive and puts people and the planet first. Sue Fennessy is a serial tech entrepreneur who has spent 30 years creating disruptive businesses.

Fostering a Culture of Togetherness

No person in the country has been unaffected by strike action, from rail to junior doctors to teachers, disruptions have been rife.

Rather than adding to anti-strike discourse and placing blame on those at the picket lines, we need to be looking at how we can support one another through the disruptions.

When teachers in the UK went on strike it occurred to me that the options for parents in these situations were extremely limited. They could either pay through the nose for additional childcare, which is not an ideal solution in a cost-of-living crisis, or they could take the time as holiday leave, which shouldn’t have to be the case.

I had a chance to share my thoughts and some game-changing policies we have at Cloudfm on BBC ?News London earlier in May. I also wrote in Business Leader about why you should consider doing this in your business. ?

Not only is it the right thing to do, but investing in family-friendly policies also helps improve employee productivity and a company’s ability to attract, motivate and retain employees. Do you agree? I would love to hear your thoughts.

How do you make your teams feel?

Back in March, I had the privilege of delivering several workshops for Vistage Malta. The purpose of these talks was to get attendees thinking about how they attract and retain top talent.

Like most other things in life, it’s all about how you make people feel.

I spoke in depth about why people leave a business, how important a consistent brand is, how to go against the grain and switch up how you recruit, and how to foster loyalty and commitment in your teams.

It was great to hear how these workshops resonated with business leaders and how impactful the content was. The response was so great that I decided to take it internally and tailor it for Cloudfm managers and team leads.

In June I will be taking senior leadership from the Cloudfm Group to an all-day workshop where we will talk all things recruitment, retention and driving a culture people want to be a part of.

Make sure you watch this space and if you have questions or wish to get in touch with me regarding speaking engagements reach out via my website here: https://www.jeffdewing.co.uk/

Showcasing Game-changing Technology: Vistage Leaders’ Summit

This coming November the Cloudfm Group have the privilege of being a headline sponsor at Vistage’s member summit in Lisbon.

The aim of the summit is to drive growth, share experiences and gain new insight. With an expected attendance of over 150 Vistage members, chairs, and staff from 10 different countries I am incredibly excited to have a chance to deliver a workshop dedicated to employee attraction, retention, and engagement.

As well as delivering a workshop, as platinum sponsors, the Cloudfm Group will be well positioned to showcase our unique IoT technology and strategic partnership with The Reef Company.

We will be using a combination of video assets and in-person demonstrations to communicate the value of technology that enhances a business's Net Zero journey. A blended approach of actionable data and behavioural change will be pivotal in moving forwards into a world where being carbon neutral (or negative!) is the goal.

If you want to have a chat about what I deliver in these workshops or the benefits of a relationship with Vistage be sure to get in touch!

It’s been a busy time both personally and for the business and with no signs of slowing down anytime soon I am already excited for the next edition of my newsletter. Feel free to reach out to me in the meantime if you have any specific questions relating to what I’ve covered, I look forward to talking to you all again soon.
