Doing One Quick Marketing Thing A Day is Better Than Doing Nothing at All

Marketing is draining when it’s not your forte or what you signed up for. However, as lawyers in small offices, when you wear many or all the hats in your operation, you have no choice but to do it anyway. Here's the thing: Ideally, you should be doing all the marketing time will permit. But what happens when you don't have the time the gurus say you should devote to marketing your practice??
?
Answer: You do what you can; do one quick marketing thing if that's all you can do. So, for each day of the week, here's one quick thing you can do when you have no time for round-the-clock, full-fledged marketing:
?
Monday sets the tone by leveraging social media platforms' visibility. Update your profile with a recent achievement, a content highlight, or a new service offering. This keeps your audience engaged and informed. It's a small effort with a potentially substantial impact, ensuring your online presence remains dynamic and relevant.
?
On Tuesday, personalized communication takes center stage. Reaching out to past clients via email promotes relationships and demonstrates genuine interest in their well-being. Whether it's a follow-up, a check-in, or providing a link for exclusive access to a webinar or event you're hosting, these tailored messages nurture loyalty.
?
Midweek, Wednesday offers an opportunity to share expertise through a brief blog post, email content, or LinkedIn newsletter article. By providing valuable insights or tips about your industry, you position yourself as a knowledgeable authority, attracting and retaining audience interest. Here's where ChatGPT comes in handy. Take four or five minutes to dictate an article into your phone's recording app or built-in software. Do it off the top of your head, dilating on something you know without looking it up. Some smartphones have a feature that will type it out as you speak. If not, email the recording to yourself. Upload the audio into the Dictate/Transcribe feature in MS Word, which will transcribe it. Then copy and paste it into ChatGPT and prompt the tool to organize and clean up your content to make the article cohesive, changing as few words as possible. That's actually what you will tell it to do. The article is still yours, comprised of your own words; the tool simply organizes them swiftly, accomplishing in seconds what might otherwise require an hour or more of your time.
?
Thursday's focus shifts to community engagement. Spending just fifteen minutes interacting with relevant social media posts or online discussions demonstrates your active involvement in industry conversations. Thoughtful comments and resource sharing enrich discussions and enhance your visibility and credibility within your professional community.
?
As the week winds down, Friday's task combines creativity with optimization. Crafting visually appealing graphics or infographics to showcase key aspects of your business captivates attention on social media platforms. If that's not your thing, you can spend 20 minutes optimizing an element on your website, like meta tags, images, or page speed, or add your latest announcement to your blog – a press release of sorts to enhance your online visibility and user experience.
?
Weekend reflections come into play on Saturday, emphasizing reputation management and customer appreciation. Responding to online reviews or feedback demonstrates your commitment to customer satisfaction while reinforcing trust and credibility.
?
Finally, Sunday is dedicated to strategic planning – when possible. By mapping out marketing and social media content for the upcoming week and scheduling posts in advance, you streamline workflow and maintain consistency in your online presence. This proactive approach saves time and ensures your marketing efforts remain consistent and coherent. If this cannot be done, simply do it day by day . . . whatever works. You make the rules, not the "gurus."

Consistency Over Intensity
?
While grandiose marketing campaigns may be out of reach, consistent daily efforts contribute to long-term success. By embracing this incremental approach, solo attorneys and small law offices can effectively navigate the demands of marketing without sacrificing other vital aspects of their business.
?
Moreover, consistently spending time on marketing helps you focus on what's important and actively work to make your business grow. Over time, the cumulative impact of these daily efforts compounds, leading to enhanced brand visibility and client engagement.
?
It's not always about the scale or complexity of the task; rather, it's about the consistency and intentionality behind each action.
?
While my suggested tasks provide a framework for daily marketing activities, you can tailor them to align with your specific practice area, target audience, and goals. Whether it's focusing on a particular social media platform, experimenting with different content formats, or exploring new marketing channels, the key is to do what works and do whatever you need to do to keep the momentum going.
