Doing my best is winning.

Reminding myself as we dive into another extraordinary week – on my end, another lockdown this time with a toddler in daycare, a 5-year-old in virtual senior kindergarten, and two parents lucky to work full time from home... that these are uncharted waters, and I, along with everyone else, am doing my best to stay afloat.

It takes the edge off to remember that there is no test. No right answer, single way forward or high score to be had. Thankfully, no one judging my performance – including the person in the mirror. I’m good with not checking off everything on my list today. Something’s gotta give.

Doing my best (whatever that looks like in this moment) is winning.

This 22-month pandemic, these conditions, are like a race without a course - or a finish line. There's no formula for success - no one has run it before or will again. I'll have ups and downs – but most importantly, if I'm lucky, I’ll come out the other side and look back on my strength, perseverance, and dedication.

We’re all in this together but we aren't feeling it equally. My family’s good health (mentally and physically), ability to work remotely, access to vaccines, technology, a safe home, groceries – are all privileges. Many are not as fortunate but everyone is doing their best. Whatever that looks like for them… today.

Empathy and kindness win. Compassion over judgement. For others and for me.

“Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.” I'm leaving the idea of perfection by the wayside and taking it hour by hour, day by day. I will get through this, we will get through this, and hopefully come out stronger on the other side... a side with beaches, and palm trees, and margaritas.

With hugs

Beautifully said Sarah. Leads me to reflect... as we acknowledge with gratitude for what we have, it certainly is easier for us find our resourcefulness and bring forward that better version of ourselves, as we steward our way through these uncharted waters and bring forward our collective humanity to embrace what we face together.??Thanks for posting.
