Hello!
Here’s your weekly roundup of Raise Your Profile. Sustain Success. Earn More.
High level summary:
When’s the last time you did a Madonna? Aka reinvented yourself.
Here’s a video with more of my thoughts on this.
I created my first ever Facebook group!
A community obsessed with enabling women to sustain their (version of) success. Want to know more? Click here :)
Back to ‘doing a Madonna’:
It’s the pivot - you’re doing something, but you know there’s something else you want more of - something else you want to be doing.
Here’s a definition:
Pivoting, “an intentional, methodical process for nimbly navigating career changes.”
When’s the last time you did this? Perhaps you want to focus on an area of expertise and stop doing other things. Maybe you want to be known in a certain sphere.
It takes guts, sprinkled with reinvention.
This is what I mean by ‘Doing a Madonna’. The pivot. The refocus. The change. Sometimes the rebirth.
It’s tough for us mere mortals to go through these motions. For example, I still have people who want me to be BBC Nima. What does it matter? Well, for the longest time it really prevented me from going all-in on what I want to do - partly because the niggling thoughts of ‘what will they think?’, plus - and this is key - when your following wants something from you that you don’t want for yourself, the feedback, or ‘bounce’ … well, it doesn’t help. Because the old crowd can be the obsolete crowd for what you want more of. So they won’t encourage, respond, ‘be’ there in the way you need, or at least would like.
It’s not because you are doing something wrong - it’s because they are no longer your ideal client/ stakeholder/ person you help.
My life is a series of pivots.
Here’s a sprinkling of me: science, medical engineering, working in healthcare, TV, global TV, stages around the globe, teaching at university.
And all I really want to do is be buried in my own world, bashing messages out and sharing that you CAN create the life you want, and earn too.
What about you? What do you wish you were doing? What are you planning on doing?
What are you doing about it?
If not now, when?
Sustaining self:
Speaking of Madonna. Have you seen her legs? Her former husband, Guy Richie, once described them as ‘Olympic’.
While we might not have the gumption, or resources, to go full Madonna, we can definitely take up doing squats every day - for free.
This is a great thing because studies show insane health benefits when we do. Turns out the squat, done properly, improves brain function!
Money & life:
Staying with the theme of your fate being in your hands, here’s this week’s money & life lowdown:
Your DNA isn’t your destiny, and the buck stops with you. Literally.
Highlights:
*33 per cent of our behaviour, when it comes to money, is affected by our DNA,
*40 to 50 per cent of a person’s behaviour when it comes to saving money is affected by parenting – up until the age of 20 to 25. The parental influence then peters off significantly – reaching zero by the time people are in their 40s.
This is what researchers say: “Parents do not have a lifelong non-genetic impact on their children’s savings. Yay! If it means this liberates you to make better financial decisions - that sustain your life.

Next week I'll be diving into how what we look / what we wear affects and influences us on the inside.
See you then!
