More does not equal better. And buying into the “more is more†philosophy can set you up for failure.
Longer hours, bigger sacrifices, fewer hours of sleep. This has been the norm for many people. But the truth is you don’t need to get up early to go to yoga, work a 10 hour day, get home, make a freshly-prepared home cooked meal, and then you rush off to a friend’s celebration.?
Putting constant pressure on yourself to do everything and pushing to do just one more thing before bed doesn’t work.
Working hard helps you. Pushing yourself past your limits does not. And I know, because I’ve done it. As I write about in my books Listful Living and Listful Thinking, I pushed past my limits so frequently, my appendix burst.?
After that, I started taking the “just enough†approach. I learned about this when I interviewed Heidi Hanna, a stress expert, in my book Listful Thinking.?
After that I started making a “just enough†list.?
Instead of bogging my list down with lots and lots of to-dos, this type of list only includes the minimum requirements to feel like just enough after completing them.
The free time you have left over can be spent doing things you enjoy or want to work on.

Prioritizing my mental and physical well being instead of just working hard all the time, has been a key part of my success.?
When you have more room to breathe you have to more time to:
- Think creatively
- Be inspired with new ideas
- Concentrate on the task at hand
- Do better work faster
Instead of prioritizing work, prioritize yourself. Rest. Recharge. And then hit the ground running.

3 å¹´Thx Paula! As we discussed, one of my favorite list strategies is an “enough listâ€. Because there is ALWAYS more we could/should do…we need to have a guide for when we’ve done enough to feel good about what we’ve accomplished and call it a day. Even if it hasn’t exhausted us. Downtime is an investment back into ourselves, our work, and those we care about most. I think I’ll start my Friday right now. ;-)

3 年Paula this is spot on!! In the last 18months “Good Enough†has been my mantra on many things. You are so right, thank you.
