Doing Good In The World

In January this year I literally bumped into a former work colleague at a campground in Papamoa. Today I start cycling 3,000km from Bluff to Cape Reinga.

What’s the link?

Well, Karen talked to me about the volunteer work she does for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Their mission is to grant the wishes of New Zealand children who have critical illnesses to give them hope, strength and joy. Every wish is as unique and special as each child and is only limited by the child's imagination.

It felt like a charity worth supporting, so the plan to ride solo across Australia starting in August was seeded. That was scuppered by Covid, but the plan has finally hatched, after numerous changes (this is Plan H, an exercise in perseverence!).

My goal is to fundraise $30,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is $10 per kilometre.

From previous fundraising I know that social media posts tend to be widely viewed, often shared, and attract heaps of “Likes”. Will you help me by going one step further? “Likes” are free but your donation will make a difference, in fact a profound difference.
