Doing good for others is a joy

#newdaynewchapter is a Blog narrative started on March 1, 2021 co-founded by Kishore Shintre & Sonia Bedi, to write a new chapter everyday for making "Life" and not just making a "living"
Have you to read the book 'The Prophet' by Khalil Gibran? Here's an excerpt from the part on the subject of giving. "There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward. And there are those who give with pain, and that pain is their baptism. And there are those who give and know not pain in giving, nor do they seek joy, nor give with mindfulness of virtue; They give as in yonder valley the myrtle breathes its fragrance into space. Through the hands of such as these God speaks, and from behind their eyes He smiles upon the earth."
The reward for a thing well done is to have done it well. Good deed at the right time is something commendable and appreciable, at the same time and, what better reward than some peace of mind and happiness? These might be some reasons why good deeds feel good. You get people’s attention/recognition or at least a broad grateful smile. A good deed helps calm your mind of the pressing guilt, making it just a bit lighter. Sometimes you feel very good by a kind action because, you can feel the weight of your Karma being lifted off your chest.
If and when lending a helping hand changes a person’s life for the better, then you feel responsible for it, making you feel like rainmaker. It feeds your ego, making you understand that you are in a position to help someone else. e.g. Most celebrities doing philanthropy in public as a photo op. Doing a good deed creates an aura of positive energy, naturally lifting your spirits up. A good deed leaves you feeling happy because, you did the right thing and, the world is all the better for it. What good deed have you done lately? Until the next good deed let us wait then.
Why being good make us feel good? Science backs it up. Giving does make us feel better, and live healthier lives. Here is why. A good deed does make us feel better. A smile of thanks after you’ve helped a person lift a stroller off a train, or the gratitude in the eyes of a beggar when a few coins land on the bottom of their paper cup, will make you feel like a good person. And most of us want to be good people. It’s the definition of “good” that varies.
It’s that warm and fuzzy feeling we get after doing good deeds – giving away our time or money – that makes many of us do it in the first place. We want others to know how good we are. So we do good things because it makes us feel good – but we also don’t mind others knowing how great we are. That makes sense. But while the economic models make sense on an intuitive level, economics is not an exact science. However, we do know that there are parts of our brains that light up when we do good deeds. We know that helping others reduces our own stress, and the physiological changes that take place in our stressed bodies can be measured.
That act of giving modulates the brain system in the same way that receiving does. The brain regions that [we know to] deal with motivation showed increase in activation when people are giving. So, that sensation is known as 'helper's high' and is produced when your brain releases endorphins, the feel-good chemicals of the brain. When you do something good for someone else, your brain's pleasure centers light up, releasing endorphin and producing this high.
Newton’s Third Law states that: “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” This is a very justifiable truth that applies to Physics as well as the real world phenomenon.Likewise, doing good deeds results into a feeling of Goodness, that makes the doer feel poised. Lets take a look at those reasons Why? Good Deeds gives a certain satisfaction to the doer. Good Deeds spreads happiness everywhere. Helping others is a Good Deed that gives the doer the inner peace.
Because, a Good Deed might affect positively in the lives of fellow individuals of the society. Good Deeds might be the reason for someone’s Goodness. Good Deeds making crying people laugh also gives internal happiness. Good Deeds abolishing the sadness of people also gives the same to the doer. Good Deeds vanishing the illnesses also makes the doer feel serene. Cheers!
